This is how we found Tucker on the landing at the top of the stairs. Deep in sleep with a very loud snore. I particularly like how is right leg is suspended in mid-air.

Mike's rant of the day
It’s a pretty quick rant today. I’m tired of people using the term “hubby” to describe their husbands. Maybe I’m just a tad bitter because I can’t legally marry my partner Greg and refer to him as my “hubby”? Though I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t. It sounds so juvenile. If you’re old enough to have…
time to vote for your favorites
I’m submitting two photos to the Summit County Metro Parks Photo Exhibit. I’ve narrowed my favorites from the past year to the four photos below, but can’t decide on my final two. I would greatly appreciate your input in voting for your two favorites.
Miley Cyrus broke my iPhone
It’s confession time, friends. On Tuesday, after weeks of trying to resist, I downloaded Miley Cyrus’ new hit Party in the USA. And I think that my iPhone is revolting by becoming increasing sluggish. I’m not proud of downloading the song. In fact, it’s kind of embarrassing. I’m nearly 37 years old. I’ve been…
mission complete
This past Sunday Greg and I completed the Summit County Metroparks Fall Hiking Spree. After false starts for the last 9 years, we finally saw the process through. We went beyond the minimum eight trails required; and hiked every last one on the list. It’s given us a real sense of accomplishment. I picked up…
a family visit
My sister and her family came up on Saturday for our annual pumpkin carving extravaganza. This year we began the visit with a short hike to the park for a chilly cookout and duck and goose feeding at the pond. It was a lot of fun.
Aunt Helen's Coffee Cake
Let me preface this post by saying that I’ve never met Aunt Helen. All I know is that she makes a crazy-good coffee cake. I was introduced to this cake by her niece Francie. Francie is one of the great bakers/cooks at Main Library. Earlier this month she baked and brought in Aunt Helen’s Coffee…
something to think about…
I snagged this from another blog. I’m sure it won’t change closed minds, but it’s something to consider. And who doesn’t love a good story problem? An engineering professor is treating her husband, a loan officer, to dinner for finally giving in to her pleas to shave off the scraggly beard he grew on vacation….
on golden pond
I had a free afternoon today, so I thought I’d venture across the street to the park to capture some of the essence and colors of autumn. I think I must have picked the most perfect afternoon. Temps were in the 60’s, some clouds were in the sky and the sun was in just the…
the march
It’s been a couple of days since the National Equality March in D.C. It was an amazing day. To see all of the people, especially the families and straight supports. For a couple of hours, I got to hold Greg’s hand in public, and not fear for our safety or receive disapproving glares. We just…
