crisp wontons with strawberries and yogurt – everyday food challenge

Saturday night we were invited by our friend Jim to enjoy an evening of classical music provided by the world-renowned Cleveland Orchestra at the beautiful Blossom Music Center. Unlike every other concert at Blossom, for the Orchestra you are welcome to bring in a picnic dinner and even your own bottles of wine. Earlier in…

frozen honey cream – everyday food challenge

My delightful friend Jennie and her husband Aidan tend to a bee hive which produces the most wonderful wildflower honey. Recently, Jennie gave me a couple of jars of their harvested liquid gold. I was going to use the honey for a week’s worth of posts that highlighted the honey as a main ingredient. Unfortunately,…

chewy chocolate chunk-cherry cookies

As you are reading today’s post, I am in a car with three of my favorite people (ok, I really like you too, but there wasn’t enough room in the car for anyone else) traveling through America’s heartland from Akron, Ohio to St. Louis, Missouri. No road trip is complete with out a great selection…

meet a blogger monday – scott from the chubby cook

I’ve brought back my Meet a Blogger Monday series today. A while back I crossed paths with Scott of The Chubby Cook. In addition to having a great web site, he’s very generous with his time in promoting other food bloggers. Scott describes himself as, “Lover of food & everything related to it. Entrepreneur. Chef…

for the geek on your holiday shopping list

And now for something a bit different. Did you know that today is Small Business Saturday? A day to do some shopping to help out the non-Walmarts and non-Targets of the world. My good friend Jason has just opened up his very own t-shirt shop, Sudsy McBones. He’s designed apparel perfect for the geeky gamer…

the vegetables, oh the vegetables

One of my favorite things from last week was going to the Crown Point Ecology Center with my friend Shannah to pick up her share. We’re hoping to get in on this veggie bonanza next year. Fingers crossed. The photo quality is not the best, I only had my iPhone on me.

classic barbecue sauce

Our friends David and Marc were kind enough to walk Tucker while we were at the beach a few weeks ago. Tonight, we’re having them over for a thank you meal. Lately, I’ve been having a hankering for some barbecue chicken. I did a little research this morning and found a recipe from Everyday Food…

july in random photos

Show of hands, who was getting tired of logging onto made by mike, and being greeted by the smiling tomatoes? It was kinda cute the first time, right? Well, it’s the first of August. And I pledge to blog a bit a more regularly. Even if that just means throwing up a random photo from…

treat time

I saw this recipe for Toffee Pretzel Bark a few weeks back on Brown Eyed Baker. One of the many food blogs that I obsess over. I mean come on, salty and sweet? And you had me at the two types of chocolate. So simple to make. Just melt, spread, crunch, cool and repeat.  I…

end of a long weekend

Enjoyed a very restful four-day weekend filled with family, friends and fun. This morning, Greg and I hiked our now weekly Sunday trail.  We headed back to the Nature Realm. I wanted to take a couple of photos of the flowering trees in bloom. I’m thinking that there might be some baking this afternoon.
